How do I find other resources like yours?
Jul 05, 2007
Where else can a person go to find great books, articles, and tips related to relationships? Here are some ideas.
Dear Betsy,
I love reading your column! Are there other
resources you can recommend for someone like me who's looking for
relationship tips?
Signed,
Hungry for More
Dear Hungry,
Here are a few to get you started:
- PsychCentral
-- My personal favorite. This is place I go when I'm looking for a good
book to recommend to clients on depression, anxiety, or any number of
other mental health issues. They're the oldest and largest online
mental health community, providing reliable information, advocacy, and
support to the public and mental health professionals. I trust these
guys.
- The Secrets of Happily Married Men and Women--
A website created by Dr. Scott Haltzman, who wrote two books that
reveal the secrets of happily married men and women. Dr. Scott's
mission is to save relationships "one husband at a time."
- DivorceBusting-- A website created by Michele Weiner-Davis,
author of Divorce Busting, and The Sex-Starved Marriage. This site is a
great resource for couples whose marriages seem hopeless, or whose sex
lives have all but dried up.
- Self-Growth--
A huge website devoted to self-growth with articles and links to
experts in every field imaginable, including: mental health, career
development, diet and nutrition, finance.
- ShowMomTheMoney -- An amazing website designed by a woman to help other stay-at-home moms build home-based businesses for fun and profit. A fabulous resource on everything from parenting tools, to how to add sound bites to your website. Lots of high-quality free information.
- eHarmony-- A
unique, online dating service that uses a comprehensive compatibility
inventory to help like-minded, like-spirited people find each other.
Unlike other online dating services that allow you to sort through
hundreds of photos to find people you find physically attractive,
eEHarmony does the sorting for you. They cross-reference compatibility
inventories until they find people whose answers suggest similar
values, sense of humor, spiritual beliefs, interests, pet peeves.
There are lots of other great sites out there. These are a few I like a lot.
Best of luck to you,
Betsy
